bear subculture?
hey yall

i was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me
i have to write an essay on bear subculture but i havent been able to find much research on it
ive been toying with the idea of going to a bear event by myself but i dont know how welcome id be

can you guys give me any advice on how i can get others to be willing to talk to me?

i had questions about whether there is a pecking order within the community and how one identifies oneself as a bear

does anyone know if bear nights are still happening at O'gradys (as in, *tonight*)?  i'm assuming so, but the toronto bears social calendar is already into june, and the first 2 fridays of june aren't listed as happening.
hoping to head over tonight and see if anything's going on...

okay, so i just posted asking about soccer, and was given a website.  fabulous.

i'm also looking to maybe organize something that's pretty bear-specific...fat-friendly, for people who are out of shape (although i swear i won't mock anyone who is actually IN shape!)...maybe either street hockey or soccer?  like, a one-time thing, and see how it goes/if there's interest?

input, ideas, etc?  i like the street hockey idea...easy to play with lots of guys or not many...only thing is you need a stick (no jokes!), which makes soccer more accessible.

seriously...let me know what y'all think.

queer soccer?
I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a recreational soccer league in Toronto that's either queer or very queer-friendly.  I'm totally out of shape, but would like to get moving - bear-friendly also a huge bonus.

Movie with a bearish guy, had to mention it
As part of G'Day Toronto Australia Week they're going to be showing on Sunday evening Kenny the Movie which is about a hefty guy who spends his time installing and servicing portable toilets.

It seems like the Australian version of the Larry the Cable Guy movie, except that reviewers like it.

I'm working too late that day to make it there, but I thought someone else might be interested.

Hey everyone,

I have a question to ask the bears and cubs out there. I'm 21, a cub, and I enjoy indie rock very much. That being said, there isn't really a bear/cub night that is of the indie rock persuasion.

Does that have to do with the fact that most bears/cubs are into circuit (bleh) music, and the like?

Do you think if I suggested an Indie Bear/Cub night to a bar/club... a) would it be successful? b) would you go? c) who would I ask?

I just wanted to help out a friend of mine by plugging the monthly bear night he DJs at which is happening Saturday, February 3. It's a lot of fun and you'll find it nicely different from the one held at O'Grady's each week: some different faces, a more diverse crowd and different music - also somewhat cheaper beer. :)

It's at The Beaver Cafe, 1192 Queen St. W., starting 10 PM. The closest main intersection would be Queen and Dufferin, and it is located just steps east of the Gladstone Hotel. Look for the window with a beaver on it.

(yeah...that is me getting kissed in one of the photos - *turns red*)

i'm interested in having you guys help out with the interests on the bio page.  i want them to encompass a lot of the diversity of the community, and just feel blocked right now.  please leave ideas in the comments.  thanks.
3:29 pm
hey guys!  i hope you'll join me in this community.  i wanted to have a space for bears, cubs, and admirers from toronto to be able to share information, post events, etc.

a little bit about me - i'm a 29 year old ftm cub/boy.  currently single, hoping to stay that way for a little while anyway, but always up for fun times with hot Daddies and Bears.  well-versed in poly/open relationships.  kinky.  lots of other things.

please feel free to introduce yourselves.

as the bio states, this community will be open to transbears as well, so if that's a problem, please keep moving.  it's currently an open community, but if there is any harassment/verbal abuse i will ban members and close membership.

just looking to share good times with people who have similar interests and lifestyles.
